GIMMEE A MINUTE !!!
I own a pair of kLIPSCH heresies , The DYNACO a-25's seem to be very popular . Or is it they were so massed produced every other person had a pair in the 70's . I have not heard the A -25's yet but Interested in their sound quality.

Totally a apples to banana comparison. 2 different design and sonic philiosophys. The Dynas are a decent speaker as are the Heresys and there is o reason not to have both in a system, one reason why most amps have speaker switching abilities. My Heresys are the only speaker in my inventory that has anything like its signature and then I have Bozaks, Advents and Wharfedales each comes closer to the Dyna than to the Heresys and I like them all.
 
After selling at least 10 pairs of speakers in the last year, one of the two pair I have left are the Dynaco A-25's. They are special.
 
I have never heard a pair of Dynacos.I have a set of Heresys that were my first "real" speakers.Its been a while since I played them after going on a vintage gear odyssey.Now when I try them out they don't seem as special as I once thought they were.Maybe i need to find the synergistic amp.
 
...and I thought my budget Paradigm TITANS were giving me the best bang for the buck...yes they were this morning. I saw and ad on craigs this today for a pair of Dynaco A25XL. I've read so many good reviews about this speaker so it was time to test if it's true. To make my story short, the Titans are for sale.

One thing I can say about the A25..."SIMPLY AMAZING". Grab a pair when you get a chance. They are so transparent, and the imaging was...you can feel the presence of the singer. It sounded very neutral... A perfect match for the ST 70 and my PAS 3X. :banana: My stands are too high for the DYNA's. Will get a shorter pair soon.

Nice pics! I keep the grills on mine because I hate the look of the speakers. They are the only pair which retain their grills in this house.

I was never able to hear my A25's sing until I put them on some tubes. The difference was staggering. I find they don't image as well as others, but the transparency and tone make up for that.

A buddy of mine who posts at the Asylum, used to have these double stacked horizontally with a super tweeter on top. Same thing that guys do with the old Advents. I'm now looking for a second pair. I have mine horizontally stacked and I can tell you it makes quite a difference. Whether or not you will enjoy it more is another story. I have found it connects the stage much more smoothly from extreme right to left.

BTW, tweeters inside for this method.

My Sound Dynamics haven't been played in about a month now...

The Heresy and A25 are completely different speakers. Yes sonically of course, but the other attribute would be in power requirements. The Heresy is quite efficient whereas the A25, although not a hog, needs a bit of power to really perform. If your equipment is SS and in the 40 watt area, or lower tube gear, the Heresies are a nice choice. I have found the A25's don't start rockin until at least 50 watts SS or 30/40 tubes. Sure, they'll play nicely below that but if you want a REAL performance, they will need to draw a bit.
 
I found a set locally, but not sure to pursue them. Do they really sound that good? Are they anything like JBL's?
 
I had 13 pairs of speakers, but only brought 3 pair with me when I moved out West.

The Dynaco's made the cut list........................................

I got rid of my high powered system in favor of my Dynaco A-25's and a tube amp. They are just that good....

The Dynacos? No, they're not like JBL, at least if something like the L-100 is your JBL reference-point. To my ears, they're more along the lines of a British-monitor type sound. It's probably not a coincidence that I went from A-25s to Kefs and early B&Ws.
 
You would swear the Dynaco's have an active sub for the lows and a ribbon tweeter for the highs thats how good they are... but really an apples to banana's comparison....I like banana's.
 
Those Paradigm Titans you used to use are not shabby at all, I run a bedroom set with a tube amp, and they also sound sweet.
 
Not as sweet as the A25. The A25's sounds more detailed and the sound stage is wider but you can stil pinpoint the instruments and the singer. I think they sound more accurate than my Titans. But like you mentioned, the Titans are very good performers.

As for my stands, right now, the woofers are at ear level. Even positioning them horizontally' the tweeters will be sitting lower than ear level.
 
I've not heard the Heresy but I love my Dynaco's. I do agree about their power requirements. I'm using a Sony TA-F40 integrated amp rated at 50WPC and I wouldn't want anything less. I listen to a lot more acoustic stuff than I did in my youth and the great mid-range of the A25's really bring the vocals and strings to life. When I first got them, I wondered what the fuss was about but after replacing a couple of capacitors...I was a happy camper. For what I have in them, I'd doubt that I'll ever luck into a nicer speaker. I like a well designed 2-way speaker with a 8"-10" driver.

I never have liked my speaker stands on this thick carpet that I hope to remove one day and my living room is small....so I recently wall mounted them. I still need to hide the wires but I am happy with them. I wouldn't want to do this with a rear ported speaker or one any larger, but I'm happy with my A25's.
