Dynaco A-25's VRS. Klipsch HERESY

Mark,

Love those wall mounted A-25's. Hiding the speaker wire in the wall is not easy. I told my wife I was going to hide the speaker wire to my Polk Monitor 30's in the wall and she freaked out. So the wires are visible. Years ago, before I retired and moved from NY City, I had my A-25's wall mounted also. I had them on a large panel that was in front of the wall similar to the wide screen entertainment centers you see today and I ran the wires behind the wall. Loved the A-25's.

The guy that was selling the dynaco A25 has been calling me several times. I guess he really want to get rid of them. I might just drop by to check them out.

If you can listen to them first, why not stop by? They're a very easy speaker to live with. It's like, sometimes you think you want to date a supermodel but then realize that the slightly chunky girl with the fantastic sense of humor is just more fun to be around.

And yes, that is my scientific analysis of the appeal of the Dynaco A-25.

HAHAHAHAAHA!!!! I laughed so hard milk came out of my nose....I'm not even drinking milk!!!

A-25 vs. A70

Has anyone ever compared the A-25 to the Boston A70? I passed up a pair of Dynaco's recently and part of me regrets it. I have a pair of A70'a though that are pretty sweet and seem to match the descriptions I hear of the Dynaco's. Are they similar or is one clearly better than the other? Thanks.

I know that price is not what you hear it's what you pay, however why is it that the Heresy's usually go for $300-$400 a pair and the Dynaco's are more like $75-$150.

I'm a Klipsch fan and have had a chance to buy the Dynaco's a couple of times for less than $100 a pair but haven't....maybe I should re-think it?

The Dynaco probably sold in much higher numbers, so supply and demand might be playing into it. It was one of highest selling speakers of all time.

I have a pair of A25XL's that sound great, but in a week or so they are about to be re capped.....so they should sound even better !!!!

dynacos and heresy

Hi, I've had both. Still have the Dynaco A25X. Heresy's can be harsh and lacking in bass with the wrong amplification. Dynacos have surprising bass and easy listening "musical" qualities.

Both are great speakers.

I never heard the Heresy's but 2 weeks ago I bought my 1st pair of A25's. I love these little speakers and I can say I will never part with them...ever
When I joined AK recently I read all the raves over the A25's so when I found a minty pair that a retired fella was selling I jumped on them. Im still stunned how well they sound with almost all music. Very neutral sounding with clean hi's and surprising bass.

Honestly I would'ov paid $150+ without question, they're that good imo.
Buy them and keep them forever.

Heresy's are very interesting. I haven't listened to the A-25s, but as soon as I find a pair, I plan to buy them. Sometimes I like the sound of my Heresy IIs a lot, other times they sound too harsh, especially with already harsh sounding rock.
