Okay, so it's not a word. At least, I'm pretty sure (>90%) it isn't, but I'm not browser-searching it to check. Because even if it isn't a word, you know its meaning... and I like the way it sounds.
Some recordings elude us. One that has dodged me for years, decades actually, is Passport's Iguacu. I had it on LP many years ago, but no longer own or spin record albums. It's elusivity (sounds better than elusiveness, its clumsy and awkward brother) has added much, in my mind, to its quality. If I found a copy on CD (was it ever released in the format?) would I even like it today? I think so, but maybe I enjoy the vague memory I retain more than I would the reality of hearing it again.
I haven't checked in awhile... but if not on CD, maybe I could find someone who's set up for converting from LP to CD, and who also has the album... of course, this is not a solicitation for such a thing because that would be reprehensible, unethical and highly illegal. The FBI watches the internet for this type infraction, you know. Kick in doors, looking for pirated discs/downloads. Not that such factors have prevented me doing something with those sort of inducements previously. After all, I am an outlaw. I even sample grapes at the grocery.
What recording(s) have eluded you? Did their elusivity factor inflate your expectations, or perhaps add to the satisfaction when you tracked down your prey? What one-that-got-away has you currently keeping a watchful eye? Or one you never owned? Inquiring minds want to know.
