Empire TT/E III Cartridge Info Needed

Being on a retired budget imagine I will stick with MM unless an MC falls into my lap. I've looked at MC's off and on but I see the prices (yikes) on the good ones and cost if re-tipping is needed down the road.

I have a few different MM's here to choose from. Shure's - v15 type III, m75e type 2, super track plus (2), Hi-track, n97he (2), m91e and a premium. Also have a couple of Stantons & AT's & Grado & ADC.

If you have a link to the $16 RiverTone it would be appreciated.

Back to my spreadsheet to catalog a number of LP's I was given. It's really time consuming.

totally agree with ^ I finding good used mc body ~ $100 to ~ $200 out there and then ~ $250 for retip. Good build preamp diy or prefab at least $200 to $2000. If you use SUT, ~ $250!!! Easy $800 or more to get going and probably closer to 1k.

That RiverTone was all sold out soon after I purchased it. Wish I grabbed a few more. Keep your eye out there for them. He always seems to get nice performance from his offers. I put my findings on the big thread and that seems to make people snatch them up. Sometimes I feel like they have an addiction and don’t really utilize them at all other than having a collection.

it’s funny because there used to be a lot of the 2000 Z styli out there. I used them a lot and needed more but unfortunately some out there grab them and don’t use them. Now I will just use my conicals and have some retipped as needed.

It’s funny because I have seen people report that they don’t even like the 2000 Z as much as their other favorite Empire Cart and still go out and purchase additional stylus for it? Why?

I like your choice of MM & MI carts. It’s a good collection and I think you have lots of good choices. Keep on keeping on. Good find w your Empire.

I started back into vintage 5 or so years ago and have bought a lot of TT's so that's were all my carts came from. So many times I buy a TT and the person I bought it from just gives me these extra carts they had + cleaning supplies, DAC's, cables, etc., etc.. Amazing what some people just give away! Same with the LP's I'm entering into a spreadsheet. I've been given almost 900 LP's this year.

Take care and enjoy the weekend!
