Hey all! I just got my refreshed m202's back and am digging them. I really love them. I also have some Epi 100's, Klipsch Quartets, and Infinity Monitor Jrs for comparison. All have been recapped and refoamed. I previously had the Quartets and 202's in my large living room but my wife - after 3 awesome months - said one pair needed to go from the sitting room. Soooo...I'm gonna just run the 202's in there. I listen to a lot of jazz and vocals and this is where the Epi's excel.

My only question is; how do you place em'? I've read numerous threads saying they can be put really anywhere - including angled at 45 degrees.

Here is how I have them set up now. Do I theoretically want to keep them as is, or do I wanna turn the extra side towards the wall?

I know my ears will be the judge but I just wanted to see what the experts have to add!

When I had mine in rotation, I had them at something like a 45 and that worked well. I wouldn't think that having drivers pointed at the furniture would work as well as pointed at the wall... better than having them pointed at each other without the furniture in between, though. Maybe rotate 90 from the current orientation, then begin to toe them in gradually and see what works best. Plenty of room to experiment, that's for sure. Also, are they sitting on the wires? I put them on short stands with holes drilled through the middle for the wires. Risers with a hole for the wires would work too. Enjoy!
 
202s are not the easiest things to place and have them sound great. In your situation above I would suggest that you have the two active sides facing into the room, that is turn them 45 degrees from their current position. This should allow them the reflection they were designed for and make your image much larger.

Thanks guys! I rotated em' 45 degrees and will keep you posted. Both grills are now facing towards the room.

And bambam, yes, the speakers are just sitting on the wires. The speakers have the 4 rubber feet. I've found that the wires have just enough clearance with the feet...
 
On the floor and in the corners will give the biggest bass response.
Up off the floor and/or away from the corners reduces the bass.

Play it by ear.
 
When people say "in the corners", do they mean with the grills facing in or one facing forward and one grill facing the wall?

If you put a 202 in a corner even with one driven side facing the wall they get just stupid boomy. I think they sound horrible set up like that. In a corner with both driven sides facing out they are too boomy for me. And with your bare floors I wouldn't lift them up.

But, here again, it's your system. Set it up the way it sounds best for you.
