Epicure Model 5 help needed pls!

Hi All,
Scored a pair. In fairly good shape, all drivers work, but of course surrounds are gone. I tried to find replacements on an auction site - results seem to be conflicting. Some call for 6 inch foams and others for 6 1/2inch. Looking at the specs - they have 6inch woofers. However measuring them - 6 1/2inch - inside the basket frame where outer edge of the foam would be. Cone itself seems to be 4 3/4inch.
So what size foams do I need? Anyone has done refoam on these? There is not that much info in this model. Also, it looks like original foam was glued Under the cone (to the side facing back/spider), which is first time I would be refoaming speakers that have this - all I have done were on the top - so question - is it more difficult to glue foam on the underside? Any tips/tricks for this?
Also, these have stuffing inside the cabinets (like most acoustic suspension speakers do), but it looks like its all lined in thick layers along the walls, but not much in the center of the speaker box. Should I add some more, make it more packed for better low end? ( well, I dont know if they need a better low end yet, but was wondering if anyone who has these have done this)

Thank you. And as I was saying - both places list foams with different measurements for this model. Thats what is confusing.

Also, since cone of this speaker is made from some kind of plastic? material - will the same glue work as with the speakers with a paper cone (Aileen's)?
 
If they were mine, I would send the drivers to Simply Speakers and have done professionally. IMHO

Maybe you can compare to your speaker's measurements?

What part of Ohio are you from? I am in Tiffin.
 
Note that there were two speakers named the Epicure 5, and that may be source of the confusion. Measure the basket, not the cone - I suspect yours are the larger 6.5 ones. They are not classic EPIs, being a product of Harmon, who owned the company/name, but they are good speakers. I had a pair of larger ones and liked them fine - better than the comparable ADS, which I happened to have at the same time.
The redwood veneer will drink up an astonishing amount of oil. I think Howard's Feed and Wax might be a little longer lasting than lemon oil, which goes in, lasts a few hours, and then its like the Sahara desert again.
 
Tweeters seem fine, but I will need to do more testing.
Better than ADS? Wow, thats pretty high praise! Will be interesting to compare, as l too have some. I am thinking to recap them, while I have them apart. What do you think?
 
Well, I got 6.5in size foams - like ones they have at the Simply Speakers - perfect fit for the Epicure Model 5. Was pretty easy to refoam. While there I changed caps to Daytons - good idea as originals were cheap crap and way out of specs - Luckily Parts Express is 30 min drive for me. Put them back together - WOW - these are some great little speakers - sound is superb and I could never tell that 6in woofer can produce so much bass! they remind me of my Mirage 360's - which is a very high praise! Liking these little speakers a lot and they look good too!
