Epicure Model 5

Danimal

Just a man...
I might have a chance to pick up a pair of Epicure Model 5s from a guy at work. He actually has them at work. They are in desperate need of a re-foaming. I did a little search and it seems people enjoy these speakers. Are they difficult to re-foam? Are they worth re-foaming if I can get them for a decent price?

They're really nice, a friend of mine had a pair. They're really solid and well built, too. Also, no complaints about the sound for a bookshelf speaker. They don't have the famous Epi inverted dome tweeter but they sound great. I don't think they're an odd size to refoam but I'm not sure about that.

Thanks - Never re-foamed before so this should be interesting if I do decide to make an offer on these.

The first time I refoamed something I thought to myself "this is all there is to it? am I missing something?" It's pretty easy.

Looks like busy little hands have pushed in the tweeter domes. They can often be pulled back to some semblance of the right shape, but replacements will be tough to come by. Between that and the refoam, I would try not to give much for them.

This is NOT to say that I wouldn't try to acquire them, though. :thmbsp:

Got em for my favorite price - FREE. I found the re-foam kit on e-prey and am planning on picking it up.

Looking forward to it. He also threw in a bookshelf set of EGOs that need re-foaming. Never heard of them but they are extremely heavy little buggers. Smaller than the EPIs but heavier.

:worthless

Yeah, yeah, yeah... bunch of picture whores on this site. This is actually the second pair of the same damn speaker I have received. Both needing a re-foam. The first pair I threw out. Leaking something from the inside that stained my carpet. Have no idea so don't ask. The CEO of the family (wife) said get rid of them now... when da boss speaks, I listen:yes:

When you say you were only missing a "t"... I'm assume you left off the "eeth" and are referring to missing some teeth, being from the south and all.
