Back to the original question, they are nice speakers and the price of free is good. Congrats.
I have the same speakers currently in my garage. I had them refoamed by an AK member that was more skilled than me. Refoaming these woofers is a little tricky compared to most woofers because of the two layered walls (waffle pattern) of the cones (I think). If it your first time to refoam, you might want to ask someone with some experience to help guide you.
There is also one cap on the crossover, and when you remove the woofer, you should replace the cap with a Dayton and you will improve the sound a little and at little cost.
These sound good, but are not great sounding like earlier Epicure lines that used a much better tweeter. They don't compare to other quality vintage speakers like the Dynaco A-25.

Agree with the refoaming being a little bit more difficult because the quilted plastic cones (they aren't the clear plastic/foam backing of the T/E series) don't soak up the glue the way paper cones do, so its a little harder to get good adhesion.

I had a pair of the 2s, which didn't give away much to the ADS 1290s that followed them. (I will admit I didn't really warm up to the sound of the ADS, so this isn't the most shiny endorsement).
