ESS AMT-1b -- How Much?

Hi everyone: I have a line on the ESS AMT-1b. What would be a fair price to pay? THANKS!!!

Post a pic of it or one like it from the web. foam rot or not? all drivers work? finish? towers or not? year?

A trashed set just with working Hiels is still good to have.

they sell for $400 or so, but, working-minty tweeters seperately can sell for upwards of $500!

The AMT-1b I think are the bookshelf version. The tweets are worth a pretty penny by themselves as are the woofers (not as much as the tweets tho). I have a pair that I don't listen to (out of rotation at the moment). Like already mentioned $400 even if you need to refoam the woofers, I'd take a listen. The woofers either will need re-foam or have had that done (hence the take a listen), the tweets should be OK and make the whole thing worth the $$ IF the tweets are stock and not messed with.

Hi Bob:

Thanks for the advice. I talked to my audio dealer friend again today and they are the AMT-1d's. He says they are the large floor standing model and weigh something like 80 pounds apiece. (He wrenched his back moving them and after two weeks, he is still wearing a back brace!)

He offered to lend them to me for an extended audition. I think I will take up his offer. What a guy!

The 1-d's are good - they have the tweet sitting on top better than the bookshelf version. I'd make him a deal.
