Yes those were mine I just sold them this weekend. Anyone have specs on these speakers? I was listening to them earlier and was very impressed. I will post some pictures tomorrow.
I saw a pair of Heil ESS Amp 2 at the Salvation Army with a $1200 dollar price....
they were there for about a week...I do not know if they even qualified for a 50% discount on their many sale days, since the the price has NOD (no other discount) on the sticker. Was this way out of line for such a set?
Those look almost new. Very nice indeed. I noticed the dust cap pushed in on one woofer. There may be an aluminum dust cap behind the cloth outer one, at least my woofers on my AMT-1b has them. It would be pretty easy to remove the outer cap and bend the inner cap back to shape and re-install, of course if there's another dust cap behind the cloth one.
Great score, I love my ESS speaks, they are keepers for sure. Oh and looks like a nice stack o silver you have there. They should go very well together.
After listening for a day I am very impressed with these speakers but the JBL's won't be leaving anytime soon. I have a few others that will be gone way before them! Thanks for the kind words, scores like this do not happen ever day so you have to appreciate them.
Used to sell and repair those in the mid-70s. Never listened to a pair with anything but vinyl or tape for a source, and as hot as the high end was I wonder what they sound like with a good CD. You'll need replacement diaphragms, and they aren't cheap. PE sells them.
Also, those woofers aren't anything to write home about. If you're going to keep them, you might want to look into a better driver if you can find one to match the enclosure. The AMT is bright, but incredibly detailed with a good recording. We used to demo the Sheffield instrumental recording of "Peace Train" and the finger cymbal at the end was so real you felt like you could reach out and touch it.
Will be well worth it to freshen up the caps in the xovers in those. They used elcheapo non polar electrolytics and in my AMT-1As half of them were toast or close to it. Pick up some Dayton Polys from Parts Express and the difference will be remarkable.

Here here +1 on that. Lar mentioned "remarkable", that is my experience as well.
You may want to look around or ask folks about moving the crossover frequency up a tad from 1000Hz to 1200 Hz?
At least take a look at that, I did a stock replace of my caps with good results but I read afterward that those mighty Heils work better a tad higher on the Hz scale.
I picked them up this morning! Not planning on flipping them. They are missing the covers so will have to get creative. Have not had time to listen to them yet, hope they live up to the hype.
