Ya think that coat of paint affects their sound?

You're right. The basis of the Heil's is to "squeeze" and expand like a diaphragm- which if painted, would probably negate the effect. These are not the original Heil's either, but (I believe) the same aluminum tweets as in my AMT 10b's. Nice tweeters, but not as valuable as the original Heil's.
