Fair price for ADS 910's?

Don't be too bummed. It could mean a lot more to the sister who lost her brother to keep and use his speakers.
 
Beautiful speakers! If they sound as good or better than L810s, I'd be all over them. Price sounds fair considering L810s aren't THAT much less.


Edit: Sorry you didn't get them. There will be other great deals and great sounding speakers!

I'm not worried about it, just a little sad about the whole thing, it's a shame, especially on her side. From what I understand, her son was quite a man.

I am QUITE sure she was just a bit more than a "tad disapointed" when her son died, (doesn't this go without saying?) just as I was when I had to remove shards of glass from and wring all the blood out of my nieces clothes when she was killed in a car accident last year. This I did for my sister because whatever she wanted, no matter what it was she wanted, she got.

I told her I understand completley with much empathy, just as I told my sister.

Even if I would have brought them home that day and they needed them back, I would have returned them with no hesitation, for obvious, what everyone calls, "karma" reasons. People say I was born with a horse shoe up my @$$ , but that isn't the case at all, it's just the way I am. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Maybe a few more people in this world should get the clue, life goes very, very well when you master this one most simple rule of life.

Ain't no future in the past boys and since I did right, I fully expect a ten fold return will come my way at some point.

Just do the right thing.

And if you know the item, model, or brand. When I first saw my 910's I did not know what they were and did not have the cash they were asking. I learned about them online later. I came across the same pair about 6 months later at a reduced price that I could afford. A smart phone would be handy in some situations. I wish I had a smart phone yesterday. I came across a Micro Seiki TT and was unfamiliar with the brand. It also needed some repair work and I did not really want a project. By the time I googled it and got back 2 hours later it was gone. Win some and lose some. I am happy with what I have won so far.

Sorry you did not get the speakers but you never know, the sister may get tired of them and give you a call. It was a good idea to leave your number.
 
Micro Seiki tonearms go for insane amounts. Back on topic, my twin bro died of leukemia last June and he has a ton of vintage stuff, most of which I hooked him up with back in the 70s (Thoren's 125 MKII, Ariston TT with Grace arm, Spendor BC-1s, Counterpoint Preamp, etc, etc) It's all in the original boxes like new. I can't even talk about it with my sister in law. She'll probably end up giving it to the Catholic Thrift she donates time to.

Don't let her do that as odds are they won't recognize the value and let it go for a pittance at some church sale. And that would be a shame for your sister-in-law AND the charity.

If she wants to get rid of it, make her a fair offer based upon what you know it would sell for or just offer to sell it for her and give the money raised to the charity. That would be the best of all worlds as it would find a good home and she would provide so much more for the charity.
 
I don't want to sell it, I want to use it. I manned up and texted her and she was clueless, she's got a lot on her plate. I got him most of the stuff, it would be a cool thing to spin some records on that stuff I sold him at cost when we were kids.

Transactions are sometimes like keeping honeybees. You can't really force them to do anything, all you can do is gently nudge them back on the tracks you would like to see them go down. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, nothing lost either way though, there is always another springtime to come.

I have found that some of the best deals you make, are the ones you don't get.

Terribly sorry about your niece.

But from what you had previously posted, it sounded like you were more disappointed in not getting the speakers and questioning what she said explaining herself.

It wasn't clear to me where you were coming from and if she or her daughter had seen this thread, I don't believe it would be clear to them either. That was my point and what prompted my post. If you don't think that is the case, then you have nothing to be concerned about. Carry on.
 
I was dissapointed at first but when I continued on with her on the phone and learned the details, the speakers became the last thing on my mind. The older we get, the less important "neat things" become. Initial excitemnet can be deceiving at times.

No problems here terra1, all is good.
