GaGa has proven over and over again that she actually has talent and is more than just an elctro-pop meat suit wearing auto tuned bimbo whose 15 minutes of fame keeps resetting with her next outrageous media stunt. The comparisons to Madonna, Cher, Kylie Minogue , and Grace Jones end when she sings standards and anti-pop. not to mention that she's relatively easy on the eyes, sans the theatrical makeup and shock props.
Dang!! I need to be embarrassed about liking Grace Jones? Well, so be it. Good thing I've already got a pretty thick skin about these matters, what with my Petula Clark collection and all...

That woman can sing. As far as I am concerned the theatrics are work related and matter not.
Another is Amy Whitehouse. Look at her art from a jazz perspective and you hear her in a different way. Would that she had survived, we would all be richer for it.
Lady Gaga will go on to establish herself as a master of Jazz music, and Tony Bennet deserves our thanks for his recognition of her gift.

Oh and I want to ask, if anyone has an example of any Altec multicell horn, specifically the 805 or 1005B. I would like to borrow it. I believe I have a machining strategy what will enable me to produce these horns efficiently in wood, but design data is either not available or is anecdotal. I have the capability to perform accurate physical measurements on these horns and would like to do so.
I will have at least one working prototype Model 19 analog, and the A7's will sport wings.

Agree on both. Voice is a voice. Just bought a Winehouse cd and was listening to it loud. Fantastic.
I have another request of you all.
Back when I bought my CNC router, things did not go smoothly and I gave the lead engineer a pretty rough time. His name is Eric Feldman, and he busted his ass to make things right, and succeeded beyond my most extravagant expectations.
I believe, or hope, we have become friends, and to further that relationship (I've never met him in person), I persist in inviting to visit me at one of our fests.
This one coming is no exception but alas, and also to joy, it is his son's first birthday.
I would ask all of you to join me in wishing master Owen Reid Feldman a happy first birthday, and his parents good fortune in life.

You have to wonder if the comodification of artists like Clark, or Glen Campbell or Dusty Springfield or John Hartford was not their undoing. Fantastic artists all, voices to raise the dead and make flowers bloom, and most disappeared (in the generalissimo way) after their ability to make other people rich had waned.

Their are other places we can tuck stuff. I have storage space downstairs that is available, has power, has elevator, and is not horribly ugly. There is another space downstairs I have access to.
The fourth floor is available but it is walk up, no elevator. Big space, but nice. My Altecs could romp around up there, if anyone cares to carry the A7's up for me
Let's talk about this and see if we can't expand things a bit.

I like the idea of same music on different systems. but for that sort of event the upstairs Pink room, as I last saw it, is horribly reflective, and would need some serious damping and padding to do any justice to whatever we all play.
I agree that user-supplied tables for set-ups and a round-robin sharing in turn would be great.
Any interest in sampling 4 classic or common Tube pre-amps, restored, to hear any differences? I am working to make this at least A-B-C-D if not "X" - if there is interest (I am thinking Dyna Pas3, Heathkit SP-2, HH Scott 130 (if I get it put back together in time) and Marantz 7C) - other bits would be a TT, CDP, Restored Quad II tube amps, and B&W Matrix 1's (I'd love to bring the DM-70's again, but..... its a royal pain!)

Ian, if anyone else volunteers for the 4 tube amps, I could bring the MC30's again. I might also have a Scott integrated set up. Last time I listened to it the phono stage was a little rough, but aux was fine. Let me know.

No need to lug the MC-30's if you don't want to - My idea is to bring a system where we can hot-switch only the Pre-amps, keeping the source, amps and speakers the same, and see what we find if anything in sound between the pres - I am trying to test this all out prior to bringing, and if it needs work will wait till next FF, but so far its looking good.
I plan to bring a pair of restored Quad II's (returning to the site after I bought them from Mike / HVHiFi), a Dual TT and some CDP... If you don't MIND bringing the Macs', it would also be interesting to compare them too -

I can bring my AGI pre amp. Not very common, but usually highly regarded. Not being used right now so easy to bring if you like. Simple and easy to use, no tone controls. It was the only product the company made.
