I find it interesting to hear what stereo gear famous musicians use or did use in the 60s-80s who knows who uses/used what? A couple I know of to get it started..

Jimi Hendrix- Beogram 1000 turntable, Lowther Acousta 115 speakers and leak stereo 30 amplifier. Also photos of him using a Garrard 401 tt.

Ben Folds - I was looking at vinyl nirvana and saw he was a customer that had bought a Thorens 125 (long base i think?) with an SME tone arm from Dave

I spotted this several weeks ago after the passing of Jeff Beck, my thought is that this is a staged photo as there is only one speaker and a lamp where the other speaker would've been.

It makes no sense so the rest of the setup could've just been put together by a publicist.

Not sure what the equipment is

I read somewhere that Elton John has been a huge Sony fan since the 1970s. Meatloaf, if I am not mistaking, was into Adcom gear.
 
Going back a while. Brian Jones. No idea what this is but as a teenager we had one similar at home.

They don't like the competition. Seriously, I watched Steven Tyler on a TV show and the host asked him what inspired him with his music. His answer was spontaneous and thoughtful.. he said, when I was a teenager, guitar in hand, he heard Johnny Horton singing All For The Love of a Girl, and had an epiphany, he got it, understood what it was all about and credited that moment for his long term success and musical direction. Despite style, genre, the 'it' for him was delivered to him listening to that song and it transforming him from simply playing guitar and singing to delivering a universal message, all for the love a girl, and he incorporated it into his music and delivery. It wasn't the equipment. I imagine he had a decent system and, of course, the studio playback system would have excellent sound quality so, as with any person in the studio, musicians know the sound of high performance playback, it just wasn't necessary to own any of it. Their interest is selling records and filling venues. When you play, regularly, at home listening might not have the same appeal as one who buys and plays records.
 
Henry Rollins is into Hi-End audio I've seen photos of his system.
Also, male model Fabio has a really Hi-End system.
 
I think David Gilmour had a Quad ( British audio company ) setup in the 70s?

Searching online is only bringing up Quadraphonic results. Can't find any references or pics
