I would imagine that "stereo-mania" for lack of a better term, is about as rare as stamp collecting these days. I very much doubt that being a professional musician automatically implies being an audio-gear hobbyist, too.

Most musician types that I know throw money into their home studios. Pro gear. Not, audiophile stuff.

A friend had a really sweet setup. He could do some close to studio-level recordings. I learned a lot from him.

That definitely makes sense.

And, pro gear, has not much mythological commonality with audiophile gears.

In the old Pandemic Era, I dove headlong into the world of home recording and DAWs, and mics, and mic preamps, multi-trac recorders, and all that pro stuff. There was really no useful connection to my previous 50 years of stereo-nuttery. Well, other than they both burned cash like a forest fire!
