Fault finding or fix a dead CD player, Nak MB-3

Hello, I have a Nakamichi MB-3 CD player that is completely dead.
Looking for either tips on fixing it, or where to source a replacement power transformer if that turns out to be the problem.

Here's what I know:
It was dead when I got it. It was free with a working tape deck I bought. So I don't know how it died.
There is power from the plug through the cable, past the on-off switch, tested with a 9v battery, getting 9v on the other side of the on-off switch. So it's not a simple cable or switch issue.

I get 9v right up to the cable going in to the power transformer. Not going to plug it in and fry myself with 230 volts.

There are 2 'fuses', ie resistors, in the circuit diagrams on the other side of the power transformer, these both show correct readings on the multimeter.

No visible signs of overheating around the power transformer, or the inside of the top cover.
Everything I checked for continuity on the PCBs reads OK. Appears to me that it is a failure with the power in to the machine.

I can't see a fuse and there doesn't appear to be one listed in the service manual anywhere, other than the one's I have checked, but they are on the "wrong" side of the power brick. Why Nak didn't put a fuse between the wall and the .. well anything it seems....

Where do I start looking now?

Check transformer primary continuity; with unit unplugged from mains, but switched on, measure resistance between L & N.

If it's not an open circuit, next step would be to measure the transformer secondary AC voltages.

Then check the rectifier DC output voltages.

Then check the DC outputs of any voltage regulators.

A reasonably modern electrical device (e.g. post 1982 CD introduction) ought to have reasonable protection of points handling mains voltages, with insulated connectors, etc. So you'd have to try quote hard to injure yourself...
