What is your most favorite album you have?

For me, I have to say, The Stranglers - Black and White.

Yes, I like the music, but not my favorite.....

The album itself is my favorite though. SUPER quiet... VERY well engineered, Great channel separation, and to top it all off, it's colored vinyl. Black and White, and kinda grey in between...

Just an amazing sounding album, and some very cool music....

Played it tonight. My UK copy of Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland. I was given a sealed copy as a B-day present back in the early 80's and it somehow got "lost". Then it magically reappeared about a year ago. I can't figure how I never saw it for 25 years. Very strange.

Just today I was bidding on a sealed copy of it and I bailed at $100. Probably should've done it but somehow exercised some restraint.
 
WOW.. that much for it huh? I need to find the copy I have and look it up...

Never was a Hendrix fan, but I'm trying to find the one I have with him and Otis Redding to give a listen.

I've got songs I love on Vinyl, but I keep going back to that Black and White when I want to hear sometning clean and clear, and well engineered

My favorite LP of all time (and it has been for about 20 years) is the self titled debut by an Aussie band The Sunnyboys. Brilliant power pop from the oz paisley undergound, and have a huge cult following down here. I have everything this band released in their short career, but I never got to see them live as they split up when I was 12. Like I said the music is brilliant, but I always found the lyrics a bit naff, until recently. It has since been revealed that band leader Jeremy Oxley (18 years old at the time) was suffering from schitzophrenia and was medicating himself with drugs and alcohol. This combination destroyed the band after 3 albums and almost killed Jeremy. The struggle he was fighting with the demons in his head becomes very apparent in the lyrics when listening now

Robin Trower -- Bridge of Sighs

A whole lot of the Doors stuff

and of course ---

Rolling Stones -- Sticky Fingers -- UK copies, early matrix numbers ---

Oh, while I'm at it --- Zeppelin III UK pressings.....

And I've just started ... hehehe ....

Uhh some of the early Johnny and Edgar Winter stuff ...

Not all of these are the best engineered, but for listening value .... You betcha!

Guess ya'll miss the point.. I've got tons I can call a favorite, but when you wanna show off to the friends.. what do you reach for any why.. not just to show off the system.. but to show off your vinyl collection..

That one true gem....
 
For that matter, I can whup out some puke Chevy Green colored stuff, It's not always what most people would enjoy musically (electronica), but it's impressive vinyl.. sonics, and looks... That's what I'm trying to get everyone to brag on.. your favorite show it off vinyl... It hilights your collection and your system at the same time....
 
I guess its the first Modern Lovers lp. Very tough to pick just one, of course, but I first heard this disc during my college years, and it has stuck in my mind and on my turntable ever since. Every time I hear Jonathan Richman shout "Well, there's sex in the sunny day" I get goosepimples! This lp always, Always, ALWAYS revs me up....
 
The Flaming Lips - In A Priest Driven Ambulance. A newer pressing on 180 gram pink vinyl. My favorite LP by the Lips. My favorite overall because I am proud that they have lasted long enough to have reissues. I knew Wayne and Michael in the mid 80s when I was attending college in Oklahoma City. I liked the noise they made then but never thought they would end up where they are today. Even when I hear their songs on commercials I am proud of them.

Wayne still lives in the neighborhood where he grew up. He is so normal in many ways it is amazing. He creates brilliant art and music but still lives like a normal person. Not an ounce of ego.

So. That is my story. The LP sounds really good. I have 100s that sound better but it is my favorite by a long shot.
 
When I want to impress friends, I don't break open sealed vinyl: I sacrifice small children... or really impressive livestock.

When I want to feel proud of my record collection I break out a NM Beatles--any Beatles--and give it a spin.

This is thte kind of stuff I am trying to get across.. .I saw the lips about 13 years ago.. WOW.. great show, not the music you listen to the most, but the kind of stuff musical art is all about....

I'm gonna start looking for this,..
