Favorite Potato Chip!

Rome

Holsum Honey Buns
Well guys/gals, I think my craving for Hot 'n Spicy Pork skins is starting to wane a bit. I am down to only two bags a week now! Whew! :D

I got to thinking about my next conquest in the chip market & thought about an old favorite of mine, but most stores I shop with do not carry them anymore in this area.

Are there any fans of the Zapps brand of potato chips? I really like the No Salt flavor. What is your favorite potato chip flavor and/or brand?

If anyone knows of a store that sells the Zapps brand in your area, please share it with me. There may be a store in this area that stocks them.

Happy Eating!

I like Mrs. Vicks and De-Lish-Us. Uncle Rays are good also. What's that one with the lighthouse on it, Cape Cod? Those are good also.

The Cape Cods are the only good ships we can get around here. The snack section is Corporate, no independent brands.

Back in Ohio, there were a myriad of tasty local options, from OH and PA. I recall Shearer's made some of the best. Snyders of PA. So many others.

Make my own. They compare favorably with Kettle Chips. Use Idaho's standard 'Russet Burbank' mostly although I will experiment when i actually give a hoot.

I like a substantial crunch and a good potato/salt flavor (lightly salted). Have tried vinigar. Good but problematic in making your own.... Actually tried drizzling with Balsamic... Need a thicker chip for it but it's a real interesting taste... Unfortunately really good Balsamic goes to $60 per oz. That's just plain silly.

Hi SL!
Thanks for the info. I am not familiar with any of these brands. It may be a regional thing.

Hi Jocko!
I think I have seen the Cape Cods brand somewhere locally. I will certainly keep my eyes peeled (pun) for them! :D

Zapps makes excellent chips, and I love the no salt variety.

Hi CF!
Thanks for the info. Yea, those chips are very good & like you I am watching my sodium as well. Those skins have not helped, but I only have one addiction in my life. Well, maybe two more (AK & Ice Cream)! :D :D

Hi Cfranz!
Yea, I think you may have the best solution. This way you can season them as needed, especially if you are sodium sensitive. Thanks for the info! :thmbsp:

Anything Gluten free from UTZ...

I am fanatic about their sweet n'spicey...mixed in a bowl with Fritos Scoops!!!

I gotta go with Cape Cod, but Boulder chips are also pretty good. Just about anything kettle cooked will float my boat but these two are tops, depending on your coast.

"Cape Cods" are distributed nationwide or close to it.

I like just about anything from Utz's. Again as big as they are , their products are problematic to find south of MD.

Shearer's, if you can find them. Made in NE Ohio. The best 100% peanut oil kettle chip I have found. What Cape Cod chips wish they could be. If you are in the Great Lakes, look for them.

Doritos Guacamole and Doritos Sweet Chili Heat.

I haven't had the Guacamole ones in years; can't find it here anymore.
