Favorite Vintage Monster Receiver

Just wondering what your favorite Vintage over 100 WPC Receiver might be. I have had a couple Pioneer sx-1250 Receivers and thought they were good but not great, a Kenwood 9600, not bad. Also a Toshiba sa-7100 and 7150, thought the 7150 sounded really good. Had a Concept 11.0 and liked it a lot. I have a Luxman R-117 on the way, will see if it lives up to all the rave reviews as being the best digital receiver ever made. I am hoping to get a Concept 16.5 Receiver someday to see if it lives up to the hype of it being the best Analog Receiver ever made, but the 16.5 is starting to get a little pricey. Just looking for opinions from any of you who have had any of the older so called Monster Receivers and what Speakers match up the best with them.

I also have a 117 in the mail. I also like the high line shack gear-STA-2100d. It is a little bass heavy but a great sounding amp. They usually can be had for a good price, too.

My favorite monster so far is the Yamaha 2040. Have had the 16.5, 11.0, sx 1250, sony v7, sansui 9090 db and a couple kenwoods.

mine has to be my SX-1980 bought new in 1979 in Colorado Springs. I've had various speakers with the 1980. First were a pair of new Dahlquist DQ-102, then Bose 901 series IVs and then the Lascalas. Now, the 1980 is matched once again with Bose 901's, this time the series V's

I've owned a Marantz 4400, Sanyo JCX-2900K, Toshiba SA-7150, Marantz 2325, Sansui 9090DB and currently own a Sherwood S-9910.

Of those, the Toshiba stands out strongly in my memory, and is one of the few pieces I've let go that I regret selling.

We have 2 monsters arond here. A Marantz 2325 bought new in 1976 and a what I believe what sort of represents the end on that era an early 90's Denon DRA 835r

My favorite is my G-33000. Not because of it's size or power, but how it sounds. Second is my G-8000. It's a simple underrated receiver that does very well.

My personal favorite is this. I actually owned the separate amp equivalent (HMA-8300) and a friend owns one of these. I'd love to get him to sell it to me, but so far, no luck.

I have 2 SX1250's, a 9090 and a SX1010 my vote goes for the SX 1010 by a mile paired with Infinity Quantum Jr's its hard to beat!

Of the ones I currently own, I'd rank them subjectively as follows (not a huge gap between any, I like them all!):

1. Toshiba SA-7150
2. Sony STR-V7
3. Setton RS-660
4. Akai AA-1200
5. Pioner SX-3900
6. Fisher RS-2150
7. Yamaha R9
8. JVC JR-S600
9. Vector Research VR-9000

Seconded on the Pioneer SX 1010 (my favorite of all Pioneer receivers). I have one on the way in the near future in really nice condition.

The only one I have left which just so happens to also be my favorite; the one that started it all the pioneer sx1010

I used to sell 1010's and 1250's. I confess that for me my favorite "period" look for Pioneer was the look of the 1250. I prefer them to the later models that gave the meters the black background. It's why I like the Hitachi so much.

The all silver with slightly green lighting actually impacted me on a primal level (long story).

But that's all just me.
