Favorite Vintage Monster Receiver

Oh yeah.....do now about that SX-D7000! That's one that sits right there in a little sweet spot "all it's own" and awaiting a score or reasonable price for "choice". Not "supermonster" but important for sure and like it because the design is statement/industrial done perfect and yet belonging to earlier Pioneer quality.

That thing is standout and congrats.

Just wondering what your favorite Vintage over 100 WPC Receiver might be. I have had a couple Pioneer sx-1250 Receivers and thought they were good but not great, a Kenwood 9600, not bad. Also a Toshiba sa-7100 and 7150, thought the 7150 sounded really good. Had a Concept 11.0 and liked it a lot. I have a Luxman R-117 on the way, will see if it lives up to all the rave reviews as being the best digital receiver ever made. I am hoping to get a Concept 16.5 Receiver someday to see if it lives up to the hype of it being the best Analog Receiver ever made, but the 16.5 is starting to get a little pricey. Just looking for opinions from any of you who have had any of the older so called Monster Receivers and what Speakers match up the best with them.
Just bought a Harman Kardon Citation receiver.
Been looking for one 5 years now. Due to be here this week end. Hope it's all that it's cracked up to be. Found some specs,
4hz to 100khz frequency response.
85wpc.
Damping factor 50.

Have had many Pioneer receivers.
Sx 1250
Sx 980
Sx 3800
My current one Sansui 7070.
It sounds better than any of the Pio's I've had. Playing it through a pair of big Studio Labs. Looking forward to this Citation.

I had a MINT 'Shack STA-2100D. Loved it with my VL modded Machs! Had to sell it for financial reasons. I still have a JVC JR-501s, which is surprisingly good, a 'Shack STA-2290 which, in my opinion is god-awful ugly but sounds great and a Yamaha CR-2020 which was given to be by a co-worker.

My favorite was my Kenwood Model Eleven ll. Haven't really owned any other monsters. :)

Many haven't heard one of these, I highly recommend the 7000 for sound. It may not be everyone's curb appeal but the sound is fab!

Another vote for the 7000. I picked up a mint but dirty one last spring and I love it.

I'm digging my un-restored SX1010, I have more powerful integrateds, but the 1010 has that hard to explain "thing" about it, it was love at first sound.

so if a concept 16.5 is the best vintage receiver ever

does that mean El > toroidal?

i wonder why they chose to use dual Els instead of toroidals

Kenwood Kr 9600,because that's the big one I have,,,,, but I have the big Sansui, Technics, and Pioneer on my bucket list.
I hope to be able to pic a favorite by comparing all 4 someday.
