Fear over poisonous caterpillars

Generally speaking, SMOOTH catterpillars won't hurt you. FUZZY, furry or spiked catterpillars often will, so avoid those. [Not all will - some mimic the dangerous ones, but are actually harmless.] Some smooth types are edible, but not all - best not to experiment, unless you know the variety, as eating the wrong ones can make you VERY ill!
