Lots of love for the TA-600 lately. I just finished completely recapping mine and installed new custom can caps from Hayseed Hamfest. I am a sucker for the brass face as well. Looking forward to hearing about the work done on it and your impressions. :thmbsp:

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot. I got to know this one pretty well as it was not the easiest to re-cap, but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I pretty much pig-tailed everything in it besides the coupling caps which were easy to get to. It's not as "pretty" that way but works just fine and avoids heating surrounding components more than you have to in tight spaces!

Not a tuner, not a receiver. I don't think I've ever seen a stereo Fisher tuner/preamp before - I thought that idea died in the mono era.

Er...that IS a receiver. TA-600 or TA-800. You can clearly see the "phono" and "aux" labels around the selector switch.

It's a tuner/pre-amp, there is no amplifier section. The 202 is highly desirable! I would honestly rather have that then my TA-600 because it would allow me to connect it to any amps of my choice!

"Statesman" on the face plate points to the 202-T circa 1960-61. Man, Larry is going to be jealous - that would be a good substitute for the 101-T that he's missing for his Coronet II - except that it says "Statesman" on it.

Tied with the TA-600 for the most expensive Fisher of that generation. Fisher recommended pairing it with SA-300 which retailed for less than half the price of the 202-T (in 1960).

Confusingly, Fisher used the "-T" designation to denote their tuner/control amp models of that generation. There were a number of such models in the early stereo period. The "-R" Fisher models from that period were what we think of these days as tuners. Of course if you go back a few years the "R-" models were indeed mono "receivers" in the modern sense of that term. It seems as if the terminology was changing rapidly and haphazardly during this period.
