Well done!
After I got an appropriate sized PS into my stereo amp, it's too heavy to move comfortably. Mono blocks from here on out.

Looks like a lot of time went into the wiring dress. By your account of how good the amp sounds, all your attention to detail paid off. Keep up the good work.

I HAVE been way off on the AC balance issue. The article, after I went back and re-read it after reading your last post, does indeed basically outline your method for AC balance. Since I've been measuring DC at the plates :nono: rather than AC, I'll bet I've never actually had the thing balanced for AC!!

When I first skimmed the methods for AC balance, I got it set in my head that equal DC voltage on the plates meant equal AC coming in. Wow. Just one of those simple little things that slips by but seems SO blatantly obvious once someone is nice enough to point out your error... :D

Tonight I'll set the meter for AC rather than DC and I'm betting I'll be in for a surprise! :yes:

Mojo,

You will also need to feed a constant signal into the amplifier to have any AC to measure other wise you will be balancing the AC ripple from the power supply. Do you have a test tone CD?

Hey Craig, thanks again for setting me strait-I'm anxious to hear what the amp will sound like when AC balance is equal in the outputs!

I've got a test tone CD with a bunch of different tones from 100cps up to 15k and everything in between. I'm really excited since unbalanced AC might be causing some distortion I've had all along and never realized...

I might even go home over lunch just because I don't think I can wait untill after work and I'm lucky enough to live a mile or two away from the office.

I'll post back some results over lunch!
