First time Sansui receiver options

I'm a fan of the 5000 series but if you can't confirm it has the 6013 boards I would avoid it.
I'd take the 7070 over the 771 just because it would provide better ability to drive less efficient speakers.
$600 AU is about $380 US, perhaps around the average going rate. Market may be a bit tighter down under. More than I would care to pay for any of them but I do my own work so I can deal with units in questionable shape.
Condition is everything.

If you have something like AR speakers ( 86 db ) then I would do with something with at least 50 w/ch. 881,771,661 are DC amps, 331,221 are capacitor coupled design, different sound,more mellow,musical than DC amps which are more linear,dynamic...preferences aside all of these options will serve you more than fine,just might run into some problems if you decide to crank it up sometimes.

As already mentioned 5000 is great options if driver board is updated. If not I would play safer and go with 4000,2000,771,221...

If you ran into sansui 800 that would be the ticket!

Not sure if you were asking me or AITinkster92. I haven’t got my speakers yet for this set up, I’m on the look out for them too.
Or other set up is NAD3020 with NS-10’s for music production so quite a different application.
 
Just an update, I contacted the seller of the 771’s a couple of days ago to confirm and he just sold it to someone else. The journey continues.

Ops,my bad! Thought I replied to you... Anyway, as I said low wattage amp/high sensitivity speakers or more watts with lower sensitivity speakers. Sansui will mate good with most of the speakers, no worries.Also older Sansuis are good with 4 ohm loads, you don't have to worry. Since you already have NS 10, maybe try different flavour...something vintage...but that is up to you. Recently I hooked my 2000x to my friends Triangle speakers ( big floorstanding towers ) the sound was sublime...realy plenty of options here...

This is not mine, posted for illustrative purposes only. Sweet, huh? But look closely.

The small, but nagging problem with just about every such Receiver like this you might own, or come across. The Push Button Labeling falling off, and in many cases never to be found again.

I gathered its difficult to acquire these little labels, that are either the originals, or reproductions. I had a couple such Receivers that were totally intact in this regard when I bought them, but while in my possession had a couple fall off one Unit, and a couple fall off another.

The loss of one I recall one day sent me into a panic, and there it was lying on the Carpet! Whew!

I simply glued it back on with a very small amount Crazy Glue, being careful not to over-apply and jazz up the appearance of the Button itself. I of course checked all others while at it.

There was some person some time back I recall, might have even been in this forum, that went through extreme great lengths to precisely duplicate them and did succeed, The right material, size, and the correct color and letter Font size, all exactly correct.

I am not sure if such are available anymore, but if anyone does know of a source, or this particular source I've mentioned, please let us know.

As for the single digit Sansui Receivers, another little quirk I was never fond of, and disliked, was when not using the Tuner Sections, the Dial Face Lamps turn off-extinguish. Now all you see is a Unit that looks like it's turned off with the exception of the Selector Lamp (Aux-etc) staying lit.

I understand they can be modded so the Dial Face Lamps remain constantly lit no matter the Input selected.

These could also be good candidates for LED Upgrades to Dial Face and Meter Lamps. Sure run cooler, and then likely end the need for Lamp replacement down the road.

On my Seven, to help avoid losing the labels, I use a Kleenex between my finger and the button. It helps keep the oil from my fingers from eventually loosening up the glue.

Or I just push in on the very top edge of the button, avoiding touching the labels. OCD, perhaps, but hey it works!

I was aware of the labels falling off before I purchased it 10 years ago, so this is what I came up with to prolong, or perhaps avoid the problem. So far so good.
