The preamp face plate looks great there! Sets off the TD125 nicely.

Regular use may improve that power cap that may be causing the hum. I'd still look into replacing the black tubular caps (C14 and its partner in the other channel) pictured in post #27.

Best to replace all the coupling & power supply caps as I mentioned. The start up noise is your warning.

IMO there's no need to buy such boutique caps. Just something like Sprague orange drop caps at a tenth of the price. Like here: http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/.../%2bXxc0jPJAaSg62lRnjyFY%2b0m8uDuzm%2bwmgaQ==

But I also think you need to replace the electrolytic filter caps in the can. It looks like Dynakit parts have a 60-40-20uf can which would be a drop in replacement. Their site is down right now, but check it out later.

Update

I now have the little amp playing through a pair of vintage AR4x speakers and it is a happy little setup. Sounds just superb. No hum at all and just fits right in.

I did purchase a new can and that will go in when I have some time but for now it's quiet as a mouse:thmbsp:
