The type A came with it.. My consolette has the 88.
Those type A's are pretty nice when lubed and cleaned.
Could be. The Color threw me off. I saw it and all the CE's for '67 had the bowed front. But the cab looked so much like Sandi's it's uncanny. I've got it. Looking closely at Sandi's and this one. It's a Metro. Take a look at the top lid. FISHER used the same cabinet in the '66 CE (E491) and the '67 Metro (M492). The TOP LID is different.
On the CE the lid is split to the right of the Left/middle drawer front edge. (Over the middle drawer front)
On the Metro the lid is split to the left of the Left/middle drawer front edge. (Over the left drawer front)
This would account for the additional area needed to mount the 21R Receiver in the unit vs. the 49T which mounts vertically.
My thinking is the '66 EA cabinet was overbuilt, or was well received(not too likely) and FISHER decided to keep it, but in a higher up or add-on unit . The CE was dated (basically the same design since 1960 or so) so needed a redesign. The Metro was between the Futura and the CE (orderwise the same as the Warwick). The Regent replaced the Futura in '67 and the Ambassador was cut totally, with the Statesman going in one step higher.

Picked this up the other day. I'm wrestling with whether to keep it whole or pull the electronics. The cabinet isn't in terrible shape, so I'm VERY reluctant to mess with it, but I don't know where to put it. If I keep it whole, I'll have to pass it on. Turntable needs work, and I've already lost one of the spindle washers cleaning out the old grease.
I'll edit to include better pictures when I have a chance to take them.

Just walked past a fisher console at the thrift today - listed for $15. I didn't bother to get a model but I did spend some time checking it out. It looks like a combo of 2 pics that I borrowed from this thread on the outside/inside respectively (below). Only difference is the record "bin" is vertical and between the components. Cartridge was handing by a couple of the leads - some kids musta got to it at some point. Should I go back and get it?

If the 2nd one is like the 1st pic (incidentally that's my R-494 in my living room back in '09) grab it. I I traded the Hallirafters S-85 behind it for a '65 Futura Contemporary about 14 months later. The Model will be either R-493 or R494
with a 21-r(200-T) or a 23-R(175-T). Both about 15 watts per channel rms.
Can you take a picture of the receiver front plate on the Diplomat? I'd like to be able to ID it compared to the standalone receivers of the time for my database of console chassis' vs. standalones from 1966 to 1970 or so. .

I went thru every picture I could find of FISHER receivers from 1966 to 1970 and nothing resembles the Diplomat in a standalone. I would put it between the 160-T and 175-T as far as power (about 10W-15max). In the cabinet it should fill a good sized room or small house as long as it's an open floor layout. If you do use the gear separately, I would recommend at least 94-96dB/1m/1w rated speakers to get any kind of really good volume.

I know there are more consoles out there. I got this one a few months ago.
1958 C-800 contemporary. R-20 Chassis. New grille cloth, rebuilt the chassis, new caps, some resistors, replaced the worn out Mullard EL-84's with Sovtek EL-84M's. replaced weak 12ax7 Mullard with a 12ax7lps, and the 5U4GA Mullard with a GE 5U4GB. Mullards are in padded storage. New JJ Filter caps, power resistors, and bias resistor was increased to 160oHm per dave's recommendation from 125oHms.

Post 1970 low end. Probably a '71. Not too much info out there in post '69 FISHER's. There may be a chassis sheet (8x11) on the back. If so that would have info on the model. But I'd say from looking at it, most likely equivalent to a diplomat.
This one counts as a 1/2. 1965 Yokahama HIFI Cabinet Co. custom manufactured for a Navy Commander. Original Equipment was FISHER TX-300 integrated, TFM-300 Tuner, DUAL 1019, and an AKAI 345 R2R. This is the one Snade found in 2012, TheRED1 picked up and held on to it until last summer and I got it. AR-3's in the Spkr cabinets were kept by Red, and thetuner missing. Cabinets cleaned up, given a couple coats of KIWI Paste Shoe Polish, and the Akai and the TX-300 removed for possible rehab. NOW it has my X-101-B, FM-100-B, Dual 1019 (Shure V15-II), and an AKAI GX-370 R2R. KLH-17's handle the output's. The lower 1/2 of the SPKR Cab's are LP Storage.

I know. Much as I like AR's I don't run my 2ax's on any FISHER Gear even tho most all of the tube stuff will run 4ohm. They are reserved for my Sansui or Pioneer Solid State gear. Red has the 3's from this setup.
