The woofers and midrange drivers in both sets are stock (original) unmolested , I was the first one into them.
Whatever dope Fisher used to seal the surrounds was still nice and pliable ,no need for re-doped so far.
As for the old Temple capacitors, well, they still passed sound to the drivers (most likely not to accurately, but....) so I left them in.
Bill Hecht 'Fried Egg' Dome Tweeter's are 16 ohm speakers, where do you find a new 16 ohm tweeter for replacement?
On my set of XP 15's the tweeters still worked (just barley, very low output) what I did for sh_ts and giggles (to get an idea of what they should sound like) was wire an old Motorola piezo (the smoother sounding ones) to the back terminals and set it on top the speakers. They have a frequency response from 4 kHz. - 27 kHz., 94 dB SPL and don't require a crossover, ended up sounding so good I've left them like that.
Been kicking around the idea of using a nice 8 ohm silk dome tweeter in place of the fried egg tweeter (in the speakers baffle) and another 8 ohm tweeter wired in series (inside the cabinet or maybe mounted facing out the back) to come up with 16 ohms.
And give them a proper re-cap, but it's not on top of the to-do list, maybe someday.
