Five Favorite Science Fiction TV Series - Mine and Yours

Max Headroom

I've had the DVD set on my ebay watch for a long time. I never saw more than 4 of the eps when it aired but remember being intrigued. It was so different that anything on.

It also inspired one of the most amazing WTF moments and still unsolved hacks - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Headroom_broadcast_signal_intrusion

In context with the time, this had to have severely shocked/frightened quite a few. That someone(s) was able to jack a TV transmission was quite radical -

I really like that series. Do you remember the Blipverts?
Amazon shows the complete series on DVD for 25 bucks. I may get it.

I won't name 5 series. Star Trek Deep Space Nine, a much more grittier series than the original or The Next Generation. Babylon Five: the producers had a plan for a five year arc and it worked out perfectly. Highly recommended. Star Gate SGN: A good show that went on too many years. Had they gone five or six years it would have been perfect.

Lots of good TV series mentioned here....did anybody mention "V" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_(1984_TV_series) )? The alien Diana (on the right) was my favorite character....

I saw that max headroom "drama" show on ABC-TV - Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future
But what was the OTHER Max Headroom show, the interview show?
I think it was on Cinemax or Showtime or some such ...
Max sniping and dicing up the local celebs of the day (sandra Bernhard?)
I did not get that channel at the time

Oh god, I just found this site!

I'm remembering the show ended with him saying he and his family were the Martians.

It's been a long time, could that have meant he no longer identified as an Earther? I thought he had lamented the destruction of the Martian culture.

With Rock Hudson as a Martian.
Yes, that WAS Bradbury's point ....
Hudson and his family at the picnic ...
Very ambitious for a network ... NBC, wasn't it?
Found a copy of that miniSeries a few years back on the file networks
But the copy was low rez and annoying to watch

"Rocky Jones: Space Ranger" Found a DVD w/about 8 episodes at a garage sale. What I thought was beyond cool at 8 is now painfully cheesy. Although Rocky's sidekick Venus is still kinda hot:)

Just saw a good price and ordered Space: Above and Beyond (The complete series) - via eBay.
Yeah, I know its only 1 season and cancelled (Darned you again, FOX!!)
Looks like 7 DVDs - price seemed fair ...
And I saw a news story today that piqued my interest

congress-close-to-approving-a-new-space-army-1796743127

"This week, the House Armed Services Committee voted 60 to 1 in favor of the creation of a new military branch to be called the United States Space Corps... The United States Space Corps would be the first new branch of the military since 1947, when the Air Force was formed. The current proposal would classify the USSC under the Air Force in a way that mirrors the Marines classification under the Navy. The Space Corps' chief of staff would be ranked as equal to the Air Force chief of staff and would report to the Secretary of the Air Force...

According to CNN, the Air Force's secretary and chief of staff are opposed to the plan. One reason is that we already have the Air Force Space Command and the military believes that the creation of the Space Corps would just cause more complications. Secretary Heather Wilson told reporters that "this will make it more complex, add more boxes to the organizational chart, and cost more money."
===========

But honestly, not a Space ARMY, and NOT under the Airforce ...
We all KNOW it needs to be the Space Marines ...

I bought that a while back. Overall it was just okay. Some of the underlying plot themes were decent: the In Vitroes, Silicates and Chigs, but episodes were uneven and production quality low. Overall it was disappointing based on the recommendations I read.

The transfers on my DVD set were poor and two episodes were unwatchable. Hope you have better luck with your set.
