Fix Gain Pot With Diamond PC Thermal Paste?

Hi i recently bought a preamp from a pawn shop. It works and everything the only thing is that the gain knob had to be pushed sideways to allow signal through i wasn't sure if it was broken. I didn't think so since i could get audio by maneuvering the knob. So i decided to clean it with contact cleaner and know i get no sound no matter what i do to the knob. i read that i should add fader lube. I have some pc thermal paste would that work? Also would a CAIGS Silver Circuit board writer work or should i just stick to the norm and go with the fader lube? any help would be awesome thank you in advance.

Welcome to AK! Your post reads like the pot has been damaged. having to push sideways?
cleaners and thermal paste? won't repair it.. and you are a bit vague using a circuit board repair pen?? So have you taken it apart? pic would help there. The Caigs writer pen? dunno. reviews say it's long drying and not very precise to apply.
We could recommend a new pot w/spec provided.

Hi thank you and thank you for the quick reply. When i bought it one of the metal ears by the pot was bent so it seems like it might have been dropped and so when I push the knob sideways makes contact and i get audio but when i release it I get none so i thought it might be some contact issue . I did open it up and its a Bourns C103 Potentiometer, but i don't know what to look for exactly, I did do research previous to this and think the carbon track might be used up or FaderLube since it is from 2003. I haven't seen a good picture of a bad Carbon Track that hasn't burnt . I will post pictures here in the afternoon my camera is very blurry im going to use another camera.
