Fixing cartridge hum

I have a Realistic R1000XT (made by Shure) that has a very loud left channel hum. Short of tossing it out I was wondering if this is something that can be fixed and how I would go about it. I pulled the internal part out of the housing and cleaned all the contact points with Deoxit but still has a hum.

I isolated the hum to the cartridge about a month ago so I know it isn't the TT. I have a new cart and headshell and have swapped things back and forth. I put the Shure cart on my second TT with a third headshell/leads and it hums so I'm reasonably sure it an internal issue.

I mean, at this point the cartridge is likely several decades old, right? Maybe it's just time to buy a new one. It's not like it was a high-end, top of the line cartridge that you'll be missing.

I already have a replacement cart -- i just wanted to try my hand at fixing it. Just for the heck of it.
