FM Stereo Demultiplexor IC chip BA1310 LM1310 NTE801 ECG801 - all the same?

I've got a stack of Harman Kardon 330A, 330B and 330C and they all have a BA1310 IC chip in a DIP-14 14 pin package that handles the FM signal demultiplexing. Pin #6 drives the stereo indicator lamp, too, apparently. One of these units wasn't lighting that lamp correctly and I swapped the BA1310 chip out of the 330C for a BA1310 chip from a 330B and got it working properly.

Checking around AK and eBay (my 2nd favorite research site) and the web, it looks like that BA1310 chip is the same, or at least functionally equivalent, to several other chips. I found references to

ECG801

and more. Somewhere here on AK also made is sound like the HA1156W (did I get that right?) from the Pioneers would also work.

Does anyone have a clear list of which chips are the same as the BA1310? How about functionally equivalent to the BA1310?

Thanks for doing this. I've got a few units from different manufacturers here with FM stereo issues that point to the demodulator chip not functioning and this is a great starting point for sourcing out possible replacements.
 
Glad to help. I remember some other threads in the tuner forum asking on replacements for the same IC.

This is a tough one. The major suppliers, Digi-Key and Mouser, along with All Electronics (surplus parts) do not have any stereo demodulators. There are a few on eBay from "legitimate" manufacturers, typically NOS, some in sealed packages, from sources that I'd probably trust for parts at $10 or less.

I have carefully researched the ebay sellers and chosen two to buy from. Both delivered parts that functioned properly.
 
Can't hurt to bump this old thread.

My Harman Kardon 330c would not play in stereo so I ordered a 1310F ic off Ebay. Easily installed and now works great!

I just got a Marantz 2215B in for service. The SM calls for an HA1156, but factory installed (under the wax) is a UPC587 02.
 
As a follow-up and experiment, I dropped in an HA1156W in place of the UPC587 02 with no changes and it works perfectly. L/R balance was even so close no adjustments were necessary. YMMV on that though.
