Sorry Taylor,
I lost track of the thread. I've been roatating gear in and out with my Forte, mostly middle of the road stuff. My Realistic 235b is surprisingly good, Sansui 217ii, and Sansui AU-717 all great.
Carvers get poo-pooed, but I tell you, I had an MXR-130 and it sounded airy and powerful. They have some common problems that are very easy to fix. I think I'd go with a receiver (or carver 900, 150, 2000) over the separates. You have to replace 3-4 easily accessible resistors and the relays. I'm not a skilled electronics guy, and I did it no problem.
Keep in mind the Klipschs are easy to drive.
I have to praise the Rogue Audio Sphinx-my main piece. Just incredible, but expensive compared to vintage gear.
I'm selling my Realistic and 217ii pretty cheap. I was trying to flip them for a few bucks, but I'd send you one for what I paid since you're AK. PM if interested.
