Found microscope. Work to check stylii?

Garage sale find, bought on wim to possibly inspect stylii for life. A couple threads have seem imply might be difficult to see wear and interpret.
Was told I have a college grade microscope. Eye pieces are 10x and 12x. Obvective lenses are 10x, 40x and 100x. Anyone know where an informative thread is about how use microscope for inspection. Views on such?

How the stylus tip is illuminated is just as important as magnification.

Briefly checked that Sparky sticky thread. Have good start with scope. Need a 20x eyepiece for 200x mag. A way to hold stylii and some lighting.
Years ago, I worked where where we inspected the geometry of drill bits useing a special microscope called a Mohawk. There too, the halogen lamp was on a gooseneck to get just in right spot to reflect facets of drill points. We also used white cardstock like a photographer does to reflect soft light.
Will be nice to have soom idea wheather my old m95ed etc are safe to use.

If you can find one, a variable eyepiece is really nice - 10x to 20x.

Ditto on the eye piece as JP indicated. You'll need to fashion the lighting aspect of the scope if you are truly going to get to the wear patterns on the stylus otherwise you get a "better" view of the stylus than your eye or a loop but it will provide no help on the wear level.

The eyepiece is likely to cost you considerably more than you paid for the microscope. You will probably have to hire it out to recoup your expenditure. It would also be nice to take photos of the stylus. There goes another $1000. I hope you have luck with your endeavors.
