frazier loudspeakers

Yet another strange thrift store find.
A pair of "Frazier Loudspeakers".
They appear to be late 60's (real wood w/ tweed grills).
Any info on these?

Yes. You see their long , slender , towers in a lot of churches. They go back aways to the same days as Utah, and University speakers. I think Frazier was from Texas.

You are correct toasted almond.
I did find out they are from Texas, and in fact look to still be in business.
The model I found are small, bookshelf sized speakers.

I've had my Black Boxes since '74 and they still sound great. Play loud as hell too:yes: super effecient
Yep, they are from Texas. Only shop I ever heard them was a small place run by a guy named Sid Zimet. Dynaco and Frazier, that's all he sold. Used to have these 4' Frazier horns in the showroom to show off with - were actually sound re-enforcement stuff that Frazier started out in. Cool store, cool speakers.

Frazier has been out of business for years. If you have the bookshelf with an 8" full range and a 2" tweeter he started making those in the early 60s. He built a lot of pro gear including a horn that is now often refered to as an Onkyn, but I think he was doing it 1st.
I had a pair of the 60s 2 way bookshelves and they came only in black and were finished by the buyer. I used mine till the cones on the 8"ers self destructed and they put out some very serious bass for their size, the size of the driver and the time. I think the drivers were OEMed from Utah and I think that he put those 8" drivers in lots of things from talk I have gathered.

Very cool info on Frazier.
I just picked up the speakers and cant wait to get home tonight to tear em open and see what's inside.

I'll be curious about these speakers because there is a pair being sold in the local Want Ads around here. I called the guy and asked if he knew a model number but he didn't know; just said they're in the garage.


All I got out of him was they are about 1'x1'x1.5'.
They sound like they could be good for rear surrounds.

Hmm.....Sounds close to the size of the ones I got. I have been so busy, I havn't had the chance to listen to them or take pics of them. I did take a quick peek inside and saw what looks to be about an 8" woof and a tweeter (alnico?).
As soon as I get the chance I will post some pics and also take a listen.

Fraziers

I just recently got a mint pair for $20 at the local SA, and I am here to say that they sound really sweet when paired w/tubes. (Alnico Drivers?)

Tried to get the White grill cloth off, but no luck.

I thought about unscrewing the back of the Cab to see if it had a horn-loaded driver.

Nice sound clarity and Bass from a Bookshelf Speak. Reminds me of early ARs. (but not as nice)

$20 well spent!
