Depends on system, room, listeing preferences and your ears. Sorry, really only you can tell which wins. Different interpretations of the music and neither are right or wrong.

I hope someone can give a more interesting reply than that. I am also interested in anyone's opinion of how these speakers compare...

The Frazier IV-a is a 2-way speaker design, utilizing a Helmholtz resonator port, but with pretty basic drivers. The Heresy (I, II, or III?) is an un-ported box (but not sealed) with a 3-way set-up of better drivers than the Mk IV. Both use horn drivers and direct radiator woofers (10" for the Frazier, 12" for the Klipsch).

With your eyes closed, and both speaker pairs at spec and optimally placed, I'd put my money on the Frazier.

Early Mk IVs had un-removeable speaker 'grills' in fun '50s and '60s fabrics. Later versions had disintegrating foam grills, and the last ones (IIRC) had CNC-cut mdf rounded-edge frames with black cloth.

BTW: The Klipsch Cornwall is essentially a giant-sized, 3-way version of a Frazier Mk IV.

Paul Klipsch and Jack Frazier were good friends and tireless competitors.

so could these be cherry veneer?

these will look great after refinishing...drivers are perfect.
pots are a bit scratchy....they are rear mounted.
thanks for the opinions and help

Those appear narrower than my Mark IV-a speakers, it definitely has a different rear panel configuration. Too bad there’s no close up of the label to verify the model number.
Here’s a picture and nudie of my Mark IV-a. Unfortunately the prior owner of this speaker had a flooded basement which swelled the speaker’s floor panel. Fortunately the panel remained intact and didn’t separate from the side or rear panels.
The nudie shot still shows the original capacitor, which has since been replaced with a proper film cap.
