.....I honestly swallowed the last couple of bites not knowing if it all would come back up....walked out of the place bent over.....

Do they include a stomach pumping in the price?

So did you actually eat all of it?

I did the same thing with a 30" pizza back in my stupid days. Well, I tried. Two guys, and you get an hour. Two linebackers from Fresno State actually did it. Believe it or not, what gives out first is your jaw muscles. That's a lot of chewing.

Plus, it was a bit of a setup. Thick crust. Very.

Reminds me of that scene in the movie "the Great Outdoors", where John Candy has to eat the entire steak, including the fat and gristle, in order to win.

The restaurant has kept a list of all the "winners":

It seems the average amount of time to eat this is around the 50 minute mark.
On May 3rd, 1987 one person finished in under 10 minutes - this record was beaten in 2008, at a completion time of 8 minutes, 52 seconds!!!

There is/was a pace in Florida some years ago doing a 48oz steak challenge. I did it easily; today an 8 oz steak is a challenge. As I was attacking the last 8oz everyone there was cheering me on.

.....sorry, just got back from a cheap Chinese place....no, they didn't serve stomach pumps :D, and yes, I ate it all with plenty of time left....as best I remember, I was done in about 45 minutes.....

there are some places that offer things like that in town. one is a huge burrito at a mexican resturaunt. you guys got me wanting to try it now :D

They must have heard of it from Sayler's here in Portland. They started it in 1948. I have never tried it. I would rather pay for a decent meal than go through that kind of misery for free.

it would appear that the 9.5 minute record was actually beaten in 08 not 88 :D i wanna go there and try to beat it now :D

.....you better be a younger man and be a big eater....then just don't eat for 20-24 hours beforehand and only "sip" water....you need to be VERY hungry so it will taste good longer....I was probably 3/4's through that steak before it began to be an effort....and let me emphasize, I was 23.....

Yeah, a shrimp cocktail, salad, and a dinner roll have to be eaten as well.
.....and a baked potato, but all the side dishes were small when I tried it....small potato, small shrimp, small roll, and small salad barely filling the bottom of the bowl....I was given a fair chance to eat 4 and 1/2 pounds of sirloin steak that tasted wonderful.....

Yeah, I don't eat NEARLY as much as I used to. I used to easily eat a whole pizza for dinner, and still need snacks later in the evening. Now a half a pizza makes me sleepy, or at least slows me down. :D I can still put away a decent-sized steak, but definitely not a 72 ouncer, at least not in one sitting. :D
