Picked this up for free via CL last week. It had a mean hum so I cleaned it up, including all of the tube contacts, and she how sounds great considering its age. My wife loves it in her little front room next to her reading chair.

Does anyone know if the dial is supposed to light up? I didn't see any lamps.

I had one the same brand and very similar but, the dial was along one side with a clock and it lit up.
Shouldn't be too hard to check to see if the bulb is out or missing.
Not ever having opened it, that's all I can tell ya.
