Boiled, then fried in bacon fat, bacon and sweated onions. Served with Pork loin chops, with a nice caesar salad. I'm stuffed.

It's a darned good thing I don't have a church like that 'right down the street'.

If it was there, and they were serving up fresh pirogies like that, there would be a whole lot more of me than there already is right now.

You and me both.

I know of only a few churches in my area that sell homemade pierogies , and they only sell them at a very few festivals.

More power to them I say

-Some- do it on a regular basis. For example, St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic church in Merrillville, Indiana. Fish fry and Pirohi 2:30-7pm -EVERY- Friday.

As far as the pirohi goes, I like them all but my personal favorites are the prune and the sauerkraut.

NEVER have had a Pirogi-We AIN'T exactly overrun w/Ukranians, Polish, etc down here, but looking at the ingredients, I'm pretty sure I'd LOVE 'em...

The Ukrainian Cathedral, here in town, sells pirogi, six varieties, and cabbage rolls, every Wednesday, most of the year. They take a break for the month of July, and for the two weeks around Orthodox Christmas.

Twelve pirogi are $6, still hot from the pan, sauteed in butter, with carmelized onions, or without, and sour cream on the side.

$6 for two half-pound cabbage rolls.

Mmmmmmmm.

I'm not Polish but it still sounds like wonderful food ... nom nom nom ...

Omg

YOU JUST HAD TO SHARE THAT DIDN'T YOU? You are an evil beast.

I am 1400 miles from the place where "cheese pockets" are made well.

German, Uke, Polish, whatever......with a big hank of homemade smoked garlic sausage. Gaaaawwwd, I want some now.

A lady I work with just got back from Maintoba, I was joking with here before she left and said "bring me back perogies and poutine!". Well, she did, two dozen handmade perogies!
