I got a wild hair a few days ago and decided to see if it was possible to upgrade the binding posts on this thing to posts that would accept banana connectors, as I have a pair of very high end cables that have bananas soldered on I wanted to use with this. That and it's very convenient to be able to unplug and plug in a speaker cable. I first looked around but could not find any threads or even photos of a binding post mod being done on a 22 or 33000, so I started looking for binding posts and found what looked to be a very close match, so I pulled the trigger on them and they arrived yesterday.
The original posts have a 4mm shaft about 25mm long with a 7mm nut, the new posts have the same shaft diameter but are 30mm long, however there is plenty of room in the unit for the little extra length. The nut on the new posts uses an 8mm wrench. They also have the notch at the end of the shaft to solder the wire on like the originals. I tested with one just to see how it would work out. The hole in the chassis for the binding post is square, so it requires a small modification to the plastic standoff on the new binding post. You also need to remove the clear plastic "safety" standoff.
The mod requires you to square off the mounting standoff that goes on the outside of the chassis. I used a flat hobby file and it worked perfectly. The photo below shows an unmodded and modded standoff.
And the result! It is so clean it could have been factory done, and it is completely reversible, nothing on the 22000 itself was changed or modded. The posts hold very securely and do not turn or move even when you really crank down on the posts. Very pleased with how this turned out.

The posts I used can be found at Madisound here and here. Very inexpensive and IMHO an excellent upgrade to the originals. The new post can also accept up to 4AWG cable.
