You probably have more experience at this than 97.5% of the solderers out there!

Let me put my tongue in my cheek and say that those of us who are not as proficient as Kev should definitely consider using sockets.

And that is a good thing - - -
 
Not worth talking a chance with something so rare if you aren't on the end of a soldering iron every day, I do recommend the socket, don't get me wrong....:thumbsup:
 
Thanks for the tips, including soldering the IC.
I ended up buying one on ebay, I'll wait and I update you on the novelty.
