Hi Joyce,

I read the part about the 60Hz pulley, but is that a 60Hz platter with the strobes or the UK 50Hz version? Do you use the strobe, or just use an aftermarket strobe ring?

This 401 is from the UK and thus 50HZ therefore I can't use the strobe built into the platter. I've been surprised by how well one can set speed just by listening to a well known record.

Here's the trick I used. If you have a decent enough camera phone that records video, it will likely allow you to change the frames-per-second on the virtual shutter speed. So if you set it to 25fps or 50fps and shoot the 50Hz platter you should be able to check the speed with great accuracy.
