Garrard RC 210

Looks to be in nice shape. A lot of those white headshells and switch levers are somewhat discolored by now.

Looks very nice, and great pics.

How does it sound? Is it a keeper? Ceramic cart?

It sounds pretty good. Speed is even. I refinished the rubber idler with some sandpaper, but I suspect I need to get a replacement if I'm going to keep the changer; it's weak even though I did some regreasing of the arms and such underneath. The cart is a nice EV 31-D7 ceramic, a rather nice one actually.

I could put a magnetic in it; no problem. This table apparently often came with a Shure M7, so it was OK with early magnetics.

However, I believe that I am going to use this with a pre-amp from a Motorola 3-channel console, and it has some nice preset EQ settings for various types of record (RIAA, 78, etc), so I may just keep the ceramic, add a 78 RPM needle, and call it my 78 RPM console. Haven't decided yet.

I do like the way it looks, that's for sure. It was filthy dirty when I got it; I actually thought the metal base was pitted and rusted; nope, just dirt. Cleaned up real nice.

Nice photography.

I can sympathize with you on the clockwork mechanism in these old Garrards. I have spent loads of time on a couple of these changers and getting a new idler wheel makes a big difference

I normally manually start my table and let it run for a minute or two, then cycle the changer. That usually works

I have one of those M7D cartridges in one of my RC-121 changer and it sounds great, the other has a ceramic cartridge

The Garrard type A in my Fisher Ambassador is a Pickering 380

I think I used comet to bring out the white in the tone arm plastic on mine

Fresh idlers do good things for the rumble level too. My Lab 80 and the AT6 are much much quieter with fresh tires, though both were in pretty sad shape before being sent out.
