Gear rack/stands

Wasn't that custom made? Looking great. Certainly looks rock solid and it'll last a lifetime.

Sort of. It was sold as a bedside table and I asked for a couple of adjustments (remove a drawer and increase the 2 shelf heights, plus some other minor dimension changes).

Where did you purchase it?

This is what I really want in my system.

It is the Atacama Eris shelving. Available in various colors. The shelves are made of thick bamboo. Each level is "spiked" and rests atop the one below it. The one drawback is that it is not distributed much (if at all) in North America--they are a UK-based company. I would probably get "natural" bamboo shelves with black posts. Not cheap but it would be one of those "lifetime" purchases. I may still bite the bullet and buy it anyway, one of these years. I like them that much.

I have a cheaper variation of the "spiked" shelving, but the shelves are really thin and scratch or chip way too easily. Had I known it was made in China I would have never bought it. But even despite that, I find that solidity of spiking it through carpet to the concrete floor beneath does have sonic benefits. I could probably replace the wood with something thicker, or get bamboo shelves made for them. I would just need to find a woodworker to cut them for me.

Some cheap black shelving works for me in this bookcase system.

This is what I just finished building. Made from 8020 aluminum and plywood shelves painted. Also added a drawer to it. View attachment 879954

Thanks for the correction. You can see from the time it was before I was fully awake. :D

80/20 is fantastic stuff. A company I used to work for was a distributor of it. Had I worked there when I was contemplating building an 80/20 rack myself, I could have gotten it at 10% over cost. 80/20 has an excellent system. I think they still call it the Industrial Erector Set. :)

One of the great things about this setup is that the height of shelves is somewhat easily adjusted.

I am good for the time being with my current rack but have been considering something similar for a future project.
