This thread is here to cover COVID in general. What is the latest news around the world, what is the infection rate in your area, what is your personal challenge in reference to COVID...

No conspiracy theories or anti science speculation. This is an intensely interesting topic which impacts everyone of us so let's all post responsibly.

Thanks all

My first comment:

Good news from Israel. https://www.voanews.com/episode/israel-starts-reopen-study-shows-pfizer-vaccine-works-4586451
"With close to half of Israel’s population vaccinated with at least one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, Israel’s Health Ministry is reporting even better results than Pfizer’s clinical trials."

I expected from the begining of this pandemic that Canada and the U.S would not handle it well. All of the locked threads on AK and Audio Afic is a reflection of that wich is a shame. These threads could have been helpfull.I just wanted to say that before...well you know.Cheers

We fared better than many.

Stayed home
Stayed masked
Stayed healthy
Stayed employed
Stayed off Facebook
Stayed in touch with the kids
Did our best to stay positive

Vaccines are making there way here (central MO). Mom gets her second dose this Saturday. Wife and I are too young (ha!), too healthy and not essential enough for this tier.

Maybe soon.

See Covid curve in India. How did they beat Covid before the vaccines came out? I know the answer and it is fairly easy to research on Google.

Who is the appointed arbiter for what is categorized as "anti-science"?

Not all "science" is in agreement for what is effective and what is not (eg lockdowns).

Or will this unravel to my science vs your science?

A preponderance of the science will do. This will eliminate any possible nonsense.

The term "Lockdown" is not helpful either. No one was locked down. We still went to the store, wearing masked and socially distancing. We got take out and home delivery. Went outside for exercise and chores around the house. My wife went her Doctors frequently with Mask and precautions taken by the Doctors office. People were asked to protect others as well as themselves. Though many refused to consider others and exacerbated the problem. If we had followed science there would be far fewer deaths and the economy would be in much better shape.

Well, I took the time to research it. I found it was not easy to research, that India has not beat COVID and that it's low deaths, comparatively, is not understood.

Great, words....f'in words.

Lockdowns is the word used across different 'scientific' journals - such as Scientific American.

I will use that word; it's how I felt here in CA.

A question to ponder.. How does a country like Uganda, a poor African country of 50 million get away with only 340 CV deaths?
C- They didn't have loads of money to buy the new drugs big pharm was pushing out in 2020 so they used what they had and could afford, like hydroxychloroquine.
Without a scientific, double blind, CDC approved study, that's merely second hand, anecdotal hearsay. Dontcha know? ;)

There is a nature.com article dated around June 1, 2020 that explains what India did. India achieved a bell curve well before the vaccines came out. Our curve looks like a ramp. Keep looking.

Covid in India is rising. They are instituting lockdowns to combat it. I have no clue what you are talking about and find your post "Keep looking" needlessly rude.

Do you have something to say or not?

Rude? I don't think so. You did not see the nature.com article did you.

Where did you imagine it would be going? You have no agenda? I'm not seeing a lot of conspiracy theory here, but am seeing links to back up what people are saying. Maybe you need to tweak your OP to insist that only those who agree with the response to the pandemic need reply. Then you could all agree and hi-five yourselves that the country is going in the right direction.

I agree. OP has head in sand. Before thread gets locked, I will say that if the USA had achieved the results India did, many, many lives would have been saved.

Oh, you wanted a serious discussion. Not possible in the USA the last four years, especially about Covid-19. I sorry.

The mods will be here soon to lock the thread...too political (even now). Hopefully we can have this adult discussion in the future.

I am shocked by the hate and immaturity showed at the suggestion of a civil, fact based conversation.

Yes please, mod close this. My apologies for starting this thread, I had no idea.

A lot of folks disagree with you and your agenda. You read far too much into our disagreement or you are exhibiting intolerance.
