Going after Vandersteen 2ci's tomorrow....pretty excited!

Agree. I don't have wall treatments or anything special in the way of upstream electronics and my 2ce Signatures are always very engaging to listen to. There's something just 'right' about them - nothing is overdone and inspite of the size, it's one of the few speakers that can make me forget about the speakers and just listen to the music.

Kudos to you for the work you've done though - very impressive.

The way you describe the Sound makes me think there is something wrong with them. Your decription does not sound anything like the ones I have owned......:scratch2:

So then, what do you suggest could possibly be wrong with them?

They respond to EQ...not just tone controls..a 31-band Yamaha pro audio EQ. Any boost or cut at any frequency gets a response from the speakers, so no problem with drivers. I don't think the caps are bad...they sound too good now that I've done some tweaking with the room acoustics, upstream gear, and cables for that to be the problem. I still boost the top and bottom just a touch with the EQ, but they still sound pretty damn good flat.

I'm not sure what else could go wrong with the speakers besides damaged drivers or faulty networks.
