Going Digital!

Hahahahaha! Ain't that the craziest crap!

Already did. That was done when I was doing all that trouble shooting a few weeks ago. With the iUSBPower out the loop, no issue with the Starlight 7. But if I use both the iUSBPower and the Micro, and it doesn't matter if the Starligt is on one or both, it won't play...it shuts down. It hates the Starlight 7.

But I'll tell you what I ain't going to do....and that's drain my brain trying to figure it out! That's for sho!

I tried it every way . stock cable to my mac mini USB 3.0 . if you live it on it is dead in the morning . I shut it off and the blue charge light comes on .I thought this thing
runs on USB power if you turn it on after it is plugged in to the USB source .

I remember reading some place....If both are left on, then the battery will drain.if the Micro is off. It charges.....doesn't charge if on. If you turn on computer first, the Micro runs off the iUSB power...if you turn on Micro first....it runs off battery and will drain. Always turn on Micro last to run off iUSB Power.

Yes........., that's crazy big time.

And I don't blame you in the least for not racking your brain over it, as it's obvious the Ultraviolet came in handy after all........., who knew?. And while it's not as detailed as said Starlight, with the Neutral USB in the chain it's not missed to my ear which is why mine is gone, yes the improvement was that obvious to my ears within 5 minutes and there wasn't any going back............, SOLD!, the Starlight that is.

Enjoy your music, and oh yeah.........., I'm fussing about the speaker stands, yeah I caught that earlier on today.

Peace little Brotha.

I am aware of that . I am on my second one the first one I sent back to the us distributor to check out . I am waiting for an answer .

It states in the instructions, turn on Micro after PC is turned on and you run on iUSB Power. If you turn on Micro first, you run on battery. sound like you are leaving it on and then turning on computer? That's running off battery power. If you have an issue with it...go to the IFI web site and open ticket....I've used them and they are excellent with customer service/tech support.

As I too use these with a Mac Mini, I'd then think that if it's in the sleep mode itself?, I'd then drain both units and if that's the case?, then both could be turned off after each listenin session.

I know..........., I'm just pulling your chain, but as you might've noticed?, even Art was dissing the Sound Anchors for his C-7ES3s, but came around, because truth is that if one uses Mini - Monitors or Compacts as they're often called, then there's no better stand that I'm aware of, unless of course you wish to spend the kind of money asked for from stands made by Music Tool ( $1.600 LS 3/5A Designs ) or Acoustic Revive ( $6.000 and more from Harbeth Speakers ), buy once.........., be done!.

But then as I know you, I know you're waiting until you can swing a pair of those Tidal Speakers, aren't you?.

:smoke:

If the computer is off and the iUSB Power is connected and the Micro is off but won't charge, and this is your second unit....you have to suspect the USB cable is faulty. I suspect you are using their cable? You might want to open a ticket.

Man...if I get those Tidal speakers, you'd better know I also have that expensive hybrid integrated amp I like as well!

My sleep mode was set to off . And the IFI power uses a external power supply.
I like the way this DAC sounds . If I can not get this sorted out . I will be back on the DAC market . The Schitt Yiggy is tempting .

I have the IFI power in the chain and it goes dead as well . I will change my sleep settings and see what happens

If the iUSB is going dead, then it must be a defect. It gets its power from the wall, not the computer. The only thing it gets from computer is the signal from the music. It gets the power from the wall outlet.

That thing is over priced and doesn't do DSD.

The IFI competes with DACs costing 2g . The Yiggy is stated to compete with DACs costing over 10g . Native PCM is still the de facto standard mostly red book

What is the associated gear in your system. Also, from what I'm hearing over here with the ifi gear, PCM cant touch DSD 128.

These are the high dollar DAC's I have listened to extensively at friends homes.

Lampizator and PSU Level 7 $10k

Bricasti $9k

Cary DCM 600SE $8k

PSAudio Direct Stream Digital $6k

Marantz na 11S1 $3,500

All of these DAC's do very well and have a much bigger sound than the iFI. Notice I said bigger sound. Thats not to say better sound. Some dac's are richer in sound than others......its all about preference. Out of the bunch, I'd have to say the Lampi was the best followed by the Bricasti. Can the iFI compete with those high dollar dac's? I'd have to say, depends on which system it was in. Some Dac's simply have more slam than others....but you know the odd thing that struck me as I was listening to the Bricasti DAC in hi rez PCM? While having more slam and dynamic, It lacked the polish and resolution of the iFI doing DSD 128.
