Good Speakers?

I don't think those are original woofers, something's fishy with the unpainted baffle area.

There are a lot of well documented GOOD speakers out there in that price range, i'd keep looking.

Marantz electronics were very nice '60s early '70s. Speakers not so much. I agree, you have lots of great options new and used speakers in that range.

I haven't bought a pair of speakers in years, the Polks I have I purchased brand new years ago. I am trying to help my brother out in finding a pair for his recent purchase of a Pioneer SX-1050 and a nice Pioneer Turntable (model unknown). He is wanting floor standing speakers and saw these links that are close by but thought I would ask the experts on AK what they thought first.

Saw these too. but are they worth the price and the cost of refoaming?

Infinity SM150 HiFi Speakers

I have heard them at a friends home they sound nice but you need a big room for these speakers because of the dimensions and the large 15" woofer.
He sold them because they were too big for his house.

No. Stay far away from those. They can be a good loud, party speaker with the right amount of modifications - and they used to command ridiculous amounts on ebay, but in reality, they're only mediocre quality. Certainly not one of Infinity's better ones.

Agreed...you need room for these speakers. In the right sized room they sound very good. I think that not many people have the room to appreciate...
