Goodmans speakers- help identify please

As this thread was active relatively recently, I thought I would take a shot in case anyone was still monitoring it. For Goodmans fans, I noticed a pair on the Goodwill auction site identified as "Elite EE-33". Looking into them, they are actually Goodmans EE-33 (the label on the back says "Elite/Goodmans EE-33"). They are really cheap at $4.99 and relatively low shipping. They don't look in great shape (and have truly awful replacement covers), and reading this thread led to be quite sure I didn't want to take them on as a project, but I thought someone here might. Here is the link. They end soon, but have no bids and so will likely just be reposted if no one buys them.

That should be a hard pass on those. Only one tweeter appears to be original. The woofers are not original. I cannot identify the woofers, but the originals did not have a wizzer cone nor rubber surrounds.

Long overdue update. I decided to disconnect the tweets and run the twinaxiom 200c by itself full range. Using a McIntosh MC240 (40w) amp and sounds good! Little bit of EQ on pre really dials it in

I don't know if your speaker has a crossover, but the 200C will have issues at the upper end.

As I wrote in #7:

If it is a three-way, you may need to rebuild the crossover.
Some Goodmans units entirely omitted inductors from crossovers, running woofers and midranges full range, using only a capacitor to control the starting point for the midrange. Relying on mechanical limitations was not the best approach.

The Goodmans tweeters suffer from the typical limitations of cone tweeters. I'm going to someday redo mine with supertweeters, converting the units into four-ways. (Band-pass the existing tweeter like a midrange, and then add a supertweeter above that.)

The overlap between the wheezy cone-tweeter and the 200C may be causing distortion via comb artifacts. A first-order crossover, inductor for the 200C and a capacitor for the cone tweeter should clean up the sound. But those tweeters lack high-frequency performance, and become quite spikey and thus cause distortion. That breakup distortion may be more displeasing to the ear than the omission of sound at those frequencies.

Bozak has an identical issue, and my solution was to band-pass the Bozak tweeter at 8k Hz, which falls well below the distortion point but above the point where humans well hear in high-frequency, and then add a super-tweeter to provide undistorted air. That transition preserves the driver blending for the original drivers, but fixes the performance shortfall.
