Goodwill/SA/Thrift Store Discussions & Finds

A quiet day today. Picked up a Global Electronics Globe Scout Model-680A (circa 1958) for $5. Power cord is shot, have yet to re-wire it. :)

Polk Model 7 Monitors $30 at GW

I bought the Polk Monitors. Left a pair of Cerwin Vega's that needed refoaming $40. will post more details in dollars and cents

Aside from the pair of mint MC 30s (with original McIntosh-branded tubes) I bought for $9.00 at the local Salvation Army, I also recently purchased a Yamaha CR 620 receiver at a local estate sale for $30 (in addition to about 25 LPs, mostly classical and jazz). It works perfectly, all bulbs illuminate, and it looks absolutely mint except for a few faint scratches (not through the walnut-toned vinyl, just on the surface) on the top of the case.
It now forms the center of my laundry room system, which consists of the Yamaha, a Magnavox CDB 650, Mission 761is, and a Radio Shack FM-6 Yagi.

Hey all. Actually quite a few lately. I found a NAD 7130 at GW cheap. Also at GW auction one pair each Sanui SP2000 for $12.00 and one pair of Sonic AS447 for $11.00. A Realistic STA90 for $25.00 that works great. Got some Mission 700 for $7.00 and Cerwin Vega 250SE for $7.00. I'll keep on looking cause it seems to be good hunting right now where I live.

Great haul.....that lot should keep you busy for a while............

Cogsinister. It finally got better. It really slowed down for awhile. Must have been the economy in our area. I hope people will start buying new again. I love to find a treasure for little money at the used store. Some of this old stuff really brings back memories. Oh here's one more. A nice JVC R X80 receiver.

This afternoon stopped at the local 2nd hand.
Instantly saw speakers.
Polk.
Signature series. Really big. Very heavy. Maybe 6 drivers each , in a typical straight up and down array.
But more.
Big back panel, with I think tri amping and some kind of DIN type connector between them.
$39 Fortunately hahah already sold. ( I would have to find a van and strong friend).
These things were pristine apart from the dings and damage done getting them to where they are now.
Stuff is out there.

50% off at GW today. EV S-60 monitors $7 / pr.
Infinity RF-1's $7 / pr.
All in decent shape. The EV's sound fantastic.

Damn ......... great haul !!!
Probably the best bang for $14 I've seen in a while.

I need to find some smaller decent bookshelf speakers for a couple space-saving systems. I can find decent mid to large floor standing stuff all the time, but never seem to run into any decent smaller speaker systems. I'm sure they get snapped up quicker.:sigh:
