Goodwill/SA/Thrift Store Discussions & Finds

I picked up a pair of optimus pro lx-7 for $12. Got home to find that one of the tweets maybe bad (no sound) unless its the cross over thats the issue. Not sure if they are worth fixing or just parting out.

I was bidding on something once on shopgoodwill. Can't prove I was being bid against by a shill, but every time I bid, The person kept bidding higher, way past what the item was worth. I took a chance and bid just under what I though the other persons high bid was and whoever they were paid WAY too much for an old tube radio.

That's why I always use sniping software. I set MY max and no more. If I get it for better then great. Been there and done that.

Pair of EPI Time/Energy Aligned 100's. Foam surrounds gone, of course. Vinyl veneer. $8. Not sure they're worth repair, opinions?

Yes, just slap on some generic foam on them.
They are similar to 100v's except little lighter on sound from my memory but I could be wrong on that comparison.

I got this Gibson Skylark and Gretsch Swinger today for 20 bucks each the Gibson is tube and the Gretsch is solid state :D

Pair of EPI Time/Energy Aligned 100's.

Today must be the day for EPI finds. I picked up a pair Time/Energy 70 series for $10 also came home with another adcom ACE-515 ac enhancer for $15 main power cord has some bite marks in it. Double live lp of John Denver an evening with. Stuff I saw but left behind was a Technics integrated amp model SU-V2 and what looked to be the matching eq. One gw I hit had a pair of dcm TF-600. Were marked $99.99 for the pair but noticed the bolts under one of the legs had rust on it and black sacks on both need work as they had some holes and were discolored a green hue. The black paint was comming off all the legs. Couldn't tell me if they worked or not as they didn't test them. At an arc I found a NEC cd-730 had no price and was told it needed to be priced and will be put out tomorrow.

So i was at the SA store and found one ADS model L10 speaker.Do i NEED it? NO,do i WANT it? YES! But it's just one.Ok,keep walking says i.Make a big circle.Back where i started. It's kinda cute.Keep walking dummy says i.Make a big circle. Here we go again.Look up and see a store worker.Hey ,do you have the other speaker? Let me look in the back says he.A few mins later he comes out with mate.$6.47 later they are mine.Yes i have a problem.

I paid $3.53 more for my pair of L-10s. About the best ten bucks I ever spent...amazing little speakers. Play 'em every day.

Nice find!

Great amp, and worth some $$$. I have one, about the same condition. It's on semi-permanent loan to a friend.

I wish I would have taken a pic of it before I spent 4 hours cleaning it, the way it looked I guess it was stored in a barn for a long time

anyone know if this is any good? Saw it in a GW for $18 unknown what condition the speaker is in.

Seems like all the Goodwill stores around here have is a bunch of old TVs and VCRs. Any audio stuff they have is junk.

I started going to the Santa Ana Store several months ago

Yup.., what he said. I am in So. Cal., the home of Shopgoodwill.com And I do know, for a fact, that anything of "value" within the local chain and outlying communities are NOT sold in stores and ARE being sent to the main store in SantaAna for auctioning.....period. Straight from the GM's loose lips. So the chances are slim to none that those Sansui 9090's which were eluded to in the previous post will be nil, null and void within any of the local Greedwill stores here in So.Cal.
I travel as far as the entire Las Vegas valley, more than 200 miles from my home at least every other month and I have better luck up there in the 17 or so Greedwills, Savers etc.
Happy hunting!

Its pretty much as you say, the prices have gone up a lot recently on the audio equipment. The big wig from the top makes the employees go to ebay for a guide on prices. Unless something is unknown, it gets marked up. And their are a fair amount of flippers that go there & they are downright nasty. I almost got into it with a guy who was hanging over an amplifier trying to get one of the sales people to get a discount, it wasn't happening. So as soon as the guy went away from the amp, I went over & started checking it out. I was going to check to see if it worked & the guy starts giving me a hard time. Turns out hes a regular & pulls this stuff all the time. But this guy when I picked up the amp starts following me around the store. Im not the kind to start a fight, but he was really getting on my nerves.
